Between the Worlds: A Queer Erotic Experiment
Facilitated by Eva Blake
Many of us dance between the worlds in our walk on this earth. In our jobs, families, schools, and communities, we might wear different faces in each of these places. We’ve grown skills of shapeshifting and adapting to find our way through the complexities of this existence. Some of us might feel disconnected, disjointed, or confused about which part of us is "enough" or "acceptable" in which space and time we're in. What would it be like to show up in the world integrated, empowered, and unapologetic in your sexual desires? You are invited to explore the edges of your sexual self as a piece of the path toward that integration. We will inquire about the stories you carry in your body and heart about yourself as they relate to these pieces of you: sexualities, identities, genders, bodies, and personalities. The converging of story and sex affects us intimately, shaping how we see, feel, smell, hear, and taste our own bodies and sex. And we’ll study the impact of those stories on your practice of cultivating your singular erotic self.
Come out of the slumber of winter and rain into the budding of the new year. Join us for a day long communal erotic celebration created by and for self-identified queer folks of all and no genders. In a container of joy and integrity, together we will dialogue, dance, and explore our complex desires. Using breath, movement, and play, we will foster erotic relationships with ourselves as the foundation for our capacity to love and share our erotic selves with others. Between the Worlds is a play-shop designed for you to explore your erotic landscape and cultivate your own sexual power to feed all areas of your life. I will be offering exercises as invitations for your exploration; you’ll have opportunities for solo, paired, and small group experimentation and sharing. This is a hands-on, clothing optional space for self study. Join us for an experiment to transgress queer cultural norms and liberate our desires! Eva is devoted to the life’s work of decolonizing our bodies, genders, and social relationships. We invite you into this circle, guided by principals of decolonization in some of its many forms: anti-racism, ecological interdependence, and queer liberation. We seek to support and sustain communities of resilience and healing through developing our capacity for honest and radical intimacy. Learn more about Eva here. Space is limited for participants and for reduced admission volunteer roles, so please contact me at [email protected]. When you register, you'll be given a bit more information about what to expect and how to come prepared. |
What folks are saying about this workshop...
“I liked how you allow us to be with the discomfort, to not move to fix it, to let us dig into our edges. I needed to be reminded of the self-containing element of the erotic.” F.I.B., Portland, Oregon “As I am writing this, I am laying comfortably in a circle of stunningly courageous individuals who have shared in an expanding, heart-opening sharing of erotic energy. I feel grateful to know there is a network of people evolving and decolonizing our bodies and minds. The eye contact exercise was much needed for to to face my fear of intimate gaze. I am relieved I was forced to leave my comfort zone and face some deep inner pain. Your workshop was extremely well planned and you handled well the arising of fears and questions.” Participant, Portland, Oregon |
